Bilingual/ESL/Title III Program

Goals

To provide Region One area school districts with research-based professional staff development and technical assistance in the state mandated transitional Bilingual/ESL program (TC 89.210) and implementation of Two-Way/Dual Language Bilingual Programs. Which include but not limited to:

ˇ        Provide professional staff development opportunities for academic instruction based on effective pedagogy; first and second language acquisition research, and proficient literacy development for academic achievement of all English Language Learners (ELLs).

ˇ        Support Bilingual/ESL / Title III program administration, and

ˇ        Support for state and federal accountability requirements.

Philosophy

Region One Education Service Center believes that English Language Learners (ELLs) shall be provided with an equitable educational opportunity to succeed at the same level of English-speaking students in all content areas. The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) will be the standard used as the basis of all core instructional strategies and methodologies used in professional development offerings to ensure optimal student performance. The latest research-based language acquisition methodologies in the Bilingual/ESL area will be used to ensure latest research tools for teachers and administrators.
