• Functional Academic Curriculum for Exceptional Students (F.A.C.E.S.) Instructional Resources

The F.A.C.E.S. curriculum has been used by life skills teachers in Texas as a resource for instructional activities for many years. It is basically a functional curriculum.

The easiest way to become familiar with FACES is to print out the "portfolio" pages for each subject area. This can serve as a nice scope and sequence document as well as a way to track progress for each individual student. By looking at the "portfolio" pages, you can then determine what you need to teach and only print out those activities that are needed for that topic for your students.

The F.A.C.E.S. curriculum consists of six modules:
    • Language Arts
    • Mathematics
    • Science
    • Social Studies
    • Vocational
    • Personal Health
The curriculume should be used in conjunction with other academic resources because it only references the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills and does not address all essence statements assessed by the STAAR Alternate.
