    Bilingual/English as a Second Language


    Title III, Part A: English Language Acquisition, Language Enhancement, and Academic Achievement  

    The Bilingual/ESL/Title III, Part A program is integrated within the Division of Instructional, School Improvement, and College Readiness Support and provides professional development and technical assistance for districts that promotes compliance with state and federal policy guidelines for educating English language learners (ELLs) and offers innovative and high quality services that are designed to advance the progress and performance of ELLs. Additionally, district members of the Region One ESC Title III, Part A Shared Service Arrangement receive direct services and support aligned to the purposes and intent of Title III, Part A of the No Child Left Behind Act. 

    What We Do to Support Your Schools

    • Provide professional development and support, including training for the preparation of educators whose students would benefit from teachers obtaining their Bilingual and/or ESL certification
    • Disseminate information that supports both state and federal policy guidelines, using a variety of means for ongoing communication, including Bilingual/ESL/Title III, Part A Director’s Meetings, phone calls, guidance documents, site visits, and webinars, including timely communication of pertinent information from TEA to Title III funded local education agencies
    • Maintain participation and collaboration with the Texas Education Agency Bilingual/ESL/Title III, Part A Program in order to provide timely and relevant information for district program directors
