    Special Education - Program for the Visually Impaired
     

    Purpose

    The Special Education component for Visually Impaired (VI) Services is designed to provide training and coordinated services to educators of students, age 0 to 21, who are Visually Impaired, Blind, or Deaf/Blind.

    Technical Assistance:

    Assist districts with TEA VI Registration

    Assist districts with the Deaf/Blind Census

    Acquistion of APH materials

    Assistive Technology Loan Program

    Interagency Coordination

    Training:

    Staff Development

    Parent Training

    Early Childhood Interventionist Training

    Direct Itinerant Instruction:

    Orientation and Mobility Instruction

    Visually Impaired Instruction

    Assessments:

    Provide technical support for assistive device condiserations

    Coordinate Low Vision Clinics

    Orientation and Mobility Evaluations
