Option 1: If you already hold a Master's Degree, earn a Principal's Certificate
Cohort 15 (Starts June 10, 2013) Deadline to Start: June 7, 2013
Minimum Requirements for Option 1:· a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university;
· a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
· a valid Texas Teacher certificate;
· a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a PK-12 setting;
· a minimum of 2 years of school leadership experience.
Option 2 : Earn your Principal's Certificate AND a Master's Degree
(Starts June 10, 2013) Deadline to Start: June 7, 2013
Minimum Requirements for Option 2:
· a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university;
· a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale;
· a valid Texas Teacher certificate;
· a minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in a PK-12 setting;
· a minimum of 1 year of school leadership experience.
· acceptance into a Walden University Master's program.
Cohort 16 and 4M starts October 19, 2013
Principal TExES Review Sessions
The following sessions will take place in Edinburg and will be videoconference to Laredo ESC One Office

Submission of completed application with application fee.
Entry Requirements:
» Masters Degree or higher from an accredited college or university
» Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
» Valid Texas Teacher certificate
» Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in PK-12
» Minimum of 2 years of school leadership experience such as grade level or department chair, SBDM or district committee membership, sponsorship or student organization, or other proven records of leadership
If minimum entry requirements are met, applicant proceeds to the selection process.

Selection Process
The selection process includes a pre-qualifying eligibility assessment, a professional interview, an oral presentation, a writing exercise, and a critical thinking exercise.
Final Selection
Final selection is based on qualifying criteria references, and input from the ILP³ selection committee.
Pre-Internship Preparation
The pre-internship consist of an orientation session and 17 days of training in topics aligned to the State Board for Educator Certification Standards for Principals. These include session on instructional leadership and management, education rules and laws, special program administration, and a book study with on-line based discussion, assignments and reflections.

Internship Continuing Training
The internship phase consist of two semesters of a supervised internship in a campus or district based administrative or leadership position. ILP³ interns are mentored by a practicing principal recommended by the district and are supported, supervised and evaluated by an ESC facilitator with principal experience. During the internship, interns attend several days of professional development on Saturdays. Sessions address the topics below as well as other timely topics:

» Budget Development and Management
» Analysis of Student and Campus Data
» Personnel Law, Documentation and Management
» Learning and Literacy for All Learners
» Student Discipline and Documentation
» Principal TExES Review
Evaluation and Recommendation for Certification
Interns are recommended to SBEC for the Principal Certificate upon successful completion of their internship as evaluated by their ESC facilitator and district supervisor, completion of all ILP³ assignments and passing the Principal TExES.
