Region One Education Service Center Executive Administrator for Partnerships, Marketing and Communication, Arianna Vazquez-Hernandez, has been named a finalist for the National School Communicator of the Year Award by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). This prestigious honor recognizes individuals whose leadership, strategic expertise and unwavering commitment have made a transformative impact on the school systems and the communities they serve.
Middle and high school robotics teams representing the Region One Education Service Center will compete at the 2025 VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. High school teams will compete May 6-8, and middle school teams will compete May 9-11.
The Region One Education Service Center Board of Directors canvassed election votes during the regularly scheduled meeting held April 15, 2025. Two board seats were up for re-election: Place 3 (Webb County), Place 6 (Cameron County).
Region One Education Service Center (Region One) is partnering with the Hidalgo County Community Service Agency to re-engage adults ages 18-26 who did not complete high school by enrolling them at school systems participating in Region One’s Dropout Recovery Initiative.
Region One Education Service Center (Region One) was awarded a second Tri-Agency Regional Convener grant for the Lower Rio Grande Valley. The service center also received an additional award for the Laredo area, expanding its reach into Jim Hogg, Webb and Zapata Counties.
Santa Maria ISD was named the winner of the Small District Category in the Texas Association of School Boards Student Video Contest, designed to showcase the strength and success of Texas schools through promotional videos with students as the stars.
Region One Education Service Center was named the 2025 Honor Roll Institutional Catalyst by Teach for America RGV. Executive Dr. Daniel P. King was honored during the annual TFA Gala on Friday, April 4, 2025. This recognition highlights our ongoing commitment to advancing educational excellence and equity across South Texas.
