P-16 Related Initiatives Statewide Projects
Texas High School Project A $261 million public-private initiative committed to increasing graduation and college enrollment rates in every Texas community, THSP is dedicated to ensuring that all Texas students leave high school prepared for college and career success in the 21st century economy. THSP partners include the Office of the Governor, the Texas Education Agency, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, Wallace Foundation, and others. The project’s private philanthropic investments are managed by the Communities Foundation of Texas. State and federal investments are managed by the Texas Education Agency. Center for Improving the Readiness of Children for Learning and Education (CIRCLE) The Center for Improving the Readiness of Children for Learning and Education at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston is involved in numerous research, community programs, and training activities related to the goal of promoting quality learning environments for young children. Designated as the State Center for Early Childhood Development, CIRCLE also works to achieve the goals of the Texas Statewide Early Childhood Initiative funded by TEA. College for Texans The College for Texans website consolidates information spanning a variety of Texas higher education topics, including test preparation, application, enrollment, career options, and financial aid. (Available in English and Spanish) TOPCAT (Texas Online Preparation for College Admissions Tests) TOPCAT is a service supported by the Texas Education Agency and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board which offers FREE test preparation services for Texas students. Tutorials (in both English and Spanish) and practice questions are available for the SAT, ACT, and GRE. To enroll, follow instructions at the TOPCAT homepage.
