Child and Adult Care Food Program

Region One Food and Nutrition Program provides services to Child and Adult Day Care Food Programs (CACFP) as well as school districts, charter schools, and Residential Child Care Institution's (RCCI's)  with a comprehensive range of technical services designed to assist our contract entities to meet federal, state, and local program requirements under the direction of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).  Staff provides technical assistance to CACFP and NSLP participants in preparation for administrative review, trainings during the school year, and offers summer workshops for the food and nutrition professional.

The Child & Adult Care Food Program is a subsidiary of the USDA Food & Nutrition Service (FNS). The CACFP  is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture, and  is administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). There are approximately 350 Contracting Entities (CE's) in Region One, and more than 2,200 in the entire State of Texas. The CACFP reimburses Adult and Child Care Providers for as many as two meals and one snack, or two snacks and one meal per day per enrolled participant.  Through the CACFP, participants ages 0-100 can ensure that their nutritional needs are met on a daily basis. The program plays a vital role in improving the quality of nutritional care for eligible participants.

We are here to help CE's and program professionals to operate efficiently, effectively, and within federal program regulations. Region One ESC provides multiple channels of training on program rules as well as sound financial practices and methods to make meals appealing and acceptable. These trainings are funded by TDA and are offered free of charge to Food and Nutrition professionals.
