Career and Technical Education Student Organizations

Career and Technical Student Organizations are run by their independent boards. Several competitions and conferences have already been cancelled. Please contact your Texas representative of your related Career and Technical Student Organization for specific information.

The United States Department of Education (USDE) (outside source) recognizes the value of Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) and their place as an integral part of career and technical education (CTE). The responsibility for CTE instructional programs and related activities, including CTSOs, rests with state and local education agencies. The USDE allows states to use federal Carl D. Perkins funds to provide leadership and support for the CTE student organizations (Sec. 124).

The State of Texas and the Texas Education Code also recognizes the value of career and technical student organizations by emphasizing the importance of “participation by students and teachers in activities of career and technical student organizations supported by the agency and the State Board of Education (Sec. 29.182).”
