• Admission Requirements For All Applicants


    All applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency and basic skills in listening, speaking, reading, writing, and communication.  Candidates must also undergo a criminal history background check prior to:

    • employment as an educator; and
    • pursuant to the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) §227.1(d), the completion of the program.   

    An applicant or candidate may exercise the right to request a criminal history evaluation letter.

  • Documents Required Before Admission


    All documents listed below must be submitted to dhinojosa@esc1.net prior to admission deadline.

    • Official transcripts from all accredited colleges or universities attended with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale,
    • Valid Texas teacher certificate from SBEC Official Record of Educator Certificate,
    • Service record of two (2) or more years of teaching experience in a PK-12 educational setting,
    • Evidence of two (2) or more years of school leadership experience, and
    • One (1) reference letter from campus principal and one (1) reference letter from another campus administrator where the applicant will complete practicum experience.
  • Out of Country Transcripts


    Out of country transcripts must be evaluated for United States degree equivalency by a  TEA approved provider.  An applicant may fulfill English language proficiency requirement by one of the following:

    1. Completion of an undergraduate or graduate degree at an institution of higher education in the United States, not including U.S. Territories.
    2. Completion of an undergraduate or graduate degree at an institution of higher education in a country outside of the United States approved by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC).
    3. Verification of satisfactory scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT).  The required minimum passing score on each section of the test are: Speaking 24, Writing 21, Reading 22, and Listening 22.
