    It is proposed under new federal law that states may use an alternative method for identifying students for special education services under the label LD – or Learning Disabled. RTI is a multi-tiered approach to providing support services to students who are struggling.
    RTI is a general education led effort implemented within the general education system which is coordinated with all other services including special education, Title I, ESL, Migrant Education, etc. RTI is designed to provide instructional intervention immediately upon student need. It is a process that determines if the child responds to scientific, research-based intervention as a part of the evaluation procedures.
    Region One Education Service Center is committed to supporting area school districts in their efforts in RTI implementation.
    Support services include:
    • RTI Overview sessions
    • Technical assistance by phone or email
    • On-site professional development sessions
    • Intervention Team Training
