Justin Richardson

Waymaker Leadership Development

Justin is an educator, author, and keynote speaker with Waymaker Leadership Development, where he supports teachers, school administrators, municipalities, and business leaders across Texas and beyond. With a passion for people, he helps leaders grow through professional learning and coaching. In 2021 ,he earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership, and his research on spiritual leadership practices has been featured in the Journal of Ethical Educational Leadership.

Macarena Hernandez

Journalist & Educator

A trained Journalist and longtime educator who works with people of all ages to help them think creatively and ethically about storytelling. She's covered issues on immigration and education extensively, much of her work published in San Antonio Express News, The Dallas Morning News The Washington Post, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and many more. Her essays, and videos have been used in both college and high school textbooks and numerous media websites.

GEAR UP Director

Sylvia Vargas is a Director for GEAR UP Pathways to the Future! grant with Region One Education Service Center, where she leads initiatives aimed at empowering students and families to pursue higher education, career, or military pathways and achieve their dreams. With a career spanning over two decades in education, Sylvia brings a wealth of experience and passion to her role.
