Work-Based Learning

Dual Enrollment
We offer support and assistance for students participating in dual enrollment programs. Our services encompass guidance and resources to streamline the enrollment process, ensuring a smooth transition between high school and college coursework.
Career and advising specialists simplify the dual enrollment experience through a variety of means, providing comprehensive guidance and resources to assist students in selecting appropriate courses and navigating the enrollment process. Our advisors offer personalized support, helping students understand the requirements and deadlines associated with dual enrollment. Additionally, we facilitate communication between high schools and colleges to ensure seamless coordination of schedules and academic credits. By offering clear guidance and dedicated assistance, we aim to streamline the dual enrollment experience and empower students to achieve their academic goals with confidence.
Workforce Credentials

Explore the abundant opportunities for students to acquire valuable workforce credentials through Region One. Our programs provide students with access to a diverse range of industry-recognized certifications and credentials, including healthcare, manufacturing, employability skills and more.

Our team of experienced advisors understands the unique needs of educators in advising roles and offers tailored support to help them effectively guide students through their educational journeys.
We empower advisors to provide the best service for students through a range of comprehensive support mechanisms. Our team offers specialized training and professional development opportunities tailored to the needs of advisors, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively support students in their academic and career journeys.
Additionally, our team provides access to a wealth of resources, including academic planning tools, career exploration materials and college readiness resources, to assist advisors in guiding students towards success. Furthermore, our advisors receive ongoing mentoring and support from experienced professionals, enabling them to stay informed about the latest trends and best practices in advising. By fostering a collaborative and supportive environment, our specialists ensure that advisors have the tools, training and resources they need to provide exceptional service to students and help them achieve their goals.
Youth Career Link
The Rio Grande Valley Operation Youth Career Link project will address the academic, career and technical education (CTE), and workforce needs of secondary education students in south Texas.

These four strategies have been proved to increase access to dual or concurrent enrollment programs, provide post-secondary education and career guidance, increase work-based learning opportunities and provide industry-recognized credentials.
The goal of the project is to expand access to career and technical education (CTE) in nine (9) high schools by creating evidence-based, innovative, and modernized CTE programs aligned to workforce skills and labor market needs that build the capacity of secondary, postsecondary, and workforce development systems to foster CTE, academic, and college and career success for all students.
The project will serve 4,379 students within nine (9) rural school districts and will focus student learning in the following programs of study: Renewable Energy, Healthcare Therapeutics, Manufacturing Technology, Lodging and Resort Management, and Culinary Arts.

This service is funded through the Perkins Innovation & Modernization Grant
The purpose of the Perkins Innovation and Modernization grant program is to identify, support, and rigorously evaluate evidence-based and innovative strategies and activities to improve and modernize career and technical education (CTE) and ensure workforce skills taught in CTE programs funded under the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (Perkins V), align with labor market needs.

Pathways Aligned to Health Science (PATHS)
The Region One ESC PATHS project provides academic and career-focused post-secondary advising through the alignment of health care jobs, curriculum support and resources for students, counselors, and teachers. The PATHS Project is funded by the Texas Education Agency and provides targeted learning experiences to promote student interest in health care fields
Tri-Agency Regional Convener
Established in March 2016 by Governor Greg Abbott, the Tri-Agency Workforce Initiative tasked the Commissioners and designated staff of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, the Texas Workforce Commission, and the Texas Education Agency to work together to develop strong links between education and industry.
The Tri-Agency aims to provide all Texans with access to high-quality education and workforce training that empowers them to achieve their full potential and help Texas grow in economic prosperity.
