We support local education agencies (LEAs) by developing effective and sustainable academic systems and facilitating collaborative professional learning experiences that align with the instructional and assessment goals outlined in House Bill 5What is HB5?
Texas Education Code §28.014 mandates that each school district in Texas partner with at least one institution of higher education to develop and provide college preparatory courses in English language arts and mathematics.
These courses are specifically designed for 12th-grade students whose performance on coursework, college entrance exams, or assessments like the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) indicates they are not ready for entry-level college coursework.
This statute aims to enhance college readiness among high school seniors, ensuring they possess the necessary skills to succeed in postsecondary education without requiring developmental coursework.
