The regional convener system
Launched as a statewide grant program in April 2023
The Tri-Agency launched a $12 million grant program focused on identifying, training, and designating a Regional Convener in each of Texas's 28 workforce development areas to develop a Regional Pathways System.
Existing structures such as workforce boards, education service centers, institutions of higher education, and regional nonprofits were leveraged to serve as Regional Conveners.
Regional convener responsibilities
Region One ESC is designated as the Tri-Agency Regional Convener for Workforce Development Area 23 - Lower Rio. The role includes overseeing the development, implementation, and monitoring of regional strategy for high-quality career and education pathways into targeted industries across Starr, Hidalgo, and Willacy counties.
